Middle School Athletic Philosophy:
The cornerstones of the Cherry Creek School District middle level athletic program are inclusion/participation for all (no cut policy), skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. We believe in healthy competition, but winning is not our main objective-participation is. We believe winning is the natural result of students doing their very best in practices and games in a cooperative effort. Success lies not in being the best, but in doing one’s best. We expect our teams to grow and develop an attitude that reflects team spirit, cooperation, and pride.

Greetings Viper Community!
First off, huge shout out to all our Vipers who participated in a successful Track & Field season! Watching our athletes compete with respect and determination was truly an inspiration! Great job, Vipers! As one season wraps up, another begins! The boys basketball season (for 7th and 8th graders) starts on Monday 9/22! The 6th grade season begins in late October- Look out for details as the season approaches. 7th and 8th grade registration through the IMS website (RevTrack) is open now until Monday 9/29. If your student-athlete is interested in participating, please be sure to complete the registration process and pay for the season as soon as possible.
Boys Basketball: FAQ’s
- When is Practice? Practices are held Monday-Thursday after school from 3:45-4:45pm. Late buses are available for those students who need transportation home.
- When are the games? Games generally start around 4:45pm and end by 6:45pm. A complete schedule can be found on the IMS website or by clicking the link.
- How much does it cost to participate? 8th grade = $60, 7th grade = $30 - Are scholarships available for those in need? Yes! Please contact Melissa Myers at mmyers17@cherrycreekschools.org with any scholarships needs/requests! Scholarship requests must be submitted by Wednesday, September 24, 2025.
- Does my student need to have experience? No! Middle school sports in CCSD have a no-cut policy and require that all students receive equal playing time and opportunity! All experiences welcome :)
- Are there different, leveled teams? Yes. 8th grade will be leveled by skill and experience and will fill an A-Team, B-Team, and 2 C-Teams (depending on student numbers). 7th grade will be grouped by Experienced and Beginner levels. Within those levels there will be balanced teams depending on participation numbers . Games against opposing schools will be against like-skilled student-athletes.
- What does my student need for practice? Your student will need to have athletic shoes, shorts and a shirt for practice. Sandals, Crocs, and other slip-on shoes are not allowed to be worn at practice. Please feel free to reach out to any of the mentioned coaches with team specific questions.
